This week, two of my favorite things in the whole world: 1. my nephew + 2. books.

I’m so pleased to be telling you about the newest book from my shared imprint, Other Books. It’s called MAPS, Illustrated Cities by Lena Corwin and it’s beyond fabulous.

Lena has been creating these colorful maps, of cities both within the US and outside of it, since 2004. I just love them! I knew this would be a great book for my nephew and I to share. I also am certain it will be a special book for us to pour over as the years go on and we turn the well-worn pages to our favorite maps telling each other stories of all of the places we will go. It’s perfect for us dreamers.

My nephew’s favorite thing about the book was showing me what he found and searching out what I found like a treasure hunt. And, of course, we were also playing ‘doctor’ so he had to take the heartbeat of the horse or the temperature of the building or boat.

My favorite thing about the book is looking at maps from places I have not been. Oh, Berlin. I wish I could go now! Lena’s illustration style lends itself so well to daydreaming. It’s very hard to find that in a book these days. The maps in this book are so full of life and bring for a wanderlust in the best of ways!

MAPS is one not to be missed for both adults and kids. I hope you think so too!
