This week we should be calling this online project 2898 Miles Apart as I have been in Brooklyn, New York and the round-about mileage to Portland, Oregon is just that.

It’s funny because I spent 6 years in Chicago and plenty of days and weeks over the last 4 years right here in Brooklyn and yet I consider myself wholly a country/small town girl.

After just a handful of days in the city I needed to …

take it slow at an outdoor table Hotel Delmano, thank you!) …

get to a farmer’s market for farm fresh foods Union Square Greenmarket, thank you!) …

walk around a farm (Blue Hill Farm, thank you!) …

and take a walk and a long sit in the woods (Rockefeller State Park Preserve, thank you!).

I suppose we all have our leanings, some to the city and some to the country or smaller towns. Either way it’s always good to stretch ourselves even if we do find ourselves trying to find the country in the city or the city in the country. We are always searching for something, aren’t we? Might as well try to enjoy every bit of the journey no matter where we are hanging our hats.
